Blood isn't just used for accidents and emergencies as many patients, such as those undergoing treatment for cancer and leukaemia, need regular blood transfusions.   At each blood donor session you will be given a questionnaire to complete about your health, medical history, travel history and lifestyle. National Blood Service staff will go through your answers with you before a quick finger prick check of your iron levels. Providing everything is fine, you can make your blood donation and ten to fifteen minutes later, you've saved a life!   Anyone may be able to donate if they are aged between 17-65, weigh over 7st 12lb (50 kg) and are in good health. There is no upper age limit for blood donation if you have donated during the last two years.
