CycleFest - Summer of Cycling
Your Guide 2 Events in Kendal
CycleFest is a six months-long Summer of Cycling in Kendal and the South Lakes which encourages as many people as possible to get on their bikes with many rides, events, competitions and workshops to participate in. The Summer of Cycling offers something for everyone and covers every aspect of cycling, including mountain biking, road rides, over 50’s, leisure rides and cycling events for mobility or visually impaired cyclists.

Free Cycle Training for Adults
South Lakes Action on Climate Change (SLACC) are offering free cycle training sessions for adults with fully qualified Bikeability trainers. Bikeability is 'cycling proficiency for the 21st century'. Get active and stay healthy! Thinking of taking up cycling but not sure about it? Enjoy the cycle paths but not the roads? Have a bike but would like to brush up on your riding skills? Sign up for up to four sessions with friendly professional Cyclewise trainers at lakes leisure Kendal. Afternoon and evening sessions available to suit your ability.

South Lakes Cycle Challenge
The Cycle Challenge is a free, fun competition that encourages people to discover, or re-discover, that cycling is enjoyable, healthy and cheap. There are lots of great prizes up for grabs! People can ride wherever they feel comfortable for just ten minutes or one mile or more and all cycling counts, not just cycling to work. Teams of up to five people representing organisations (or a department within organisations) will compete against others for five different awards, giving any organisation or department a good chance of winning. Cycle Maintenance
Book onto cycle maintenance workshops with SLACC run by Aurora from Lancaster. The sessions - which cost just £5 - cover which tools to use and carry on your bike, fixing punctures (taking the rear wheel off) and adjusting brakes.
Women's Basic Cycle Maintenance - Saturday 2nd July at the Pavilion in Staveley: 11:00am to 2:00pm (break for lunch)
Mixed Basic Cycle Maintenance - Saturday 20th July at the Pavilion in Staveley: 11:00am to 2:00pm

Kendal Torchlight Cycle Parade
SLACC-TT are again organising a cycle parade at the
Torchlight Carnival
leaving from lakes leisure, Kendal. Around 50 people participated last year to celebrate cycling in style.
Every Tuesday -
Easy Tuesdays
Throughout the summer of 2011, Kendal & District Cycle Scene will be running free cycle events called 'Easy Tuesdays'. They begin from lakes leisure in Burton Road, Kendal at 7pm every Tuesday apart from the third Tuesday of the month when they begin from Milnthorpe or Windermere / Bowness. The rides are at a gentle pace and are of between 10 and 20 miles.
