Description   Dreamfired Storynights 2011/12 Your Guide 2 Events in Kendal Dreamfired Storynight is a storytelling event for the South Lakes and a partnership between Dreamfired Productions and Brigsteer Village Hall. Tickets cost £7 (£5 under 18′s & students) and includes the hour-long performance, cake and coffee plus an approximate hour of guest stories from local poets, singers and storytellers that will be sung, told or read. Bring your own wine or beer.Tickets will be sold on the door, but it's recommended that you reserve by emailing katq@dreamfired.co.uk or by calling 07891 487375.   Dreamfired Storynights 2011/12 Programme:   • Friday 23rd September, 2011 at 7.30pm - Nick Hennessey Performs The Bitter Berry: Kullervo Son of Kalervo From the Kalevala, the national epic of Finland, this may be the most important of stories. A boy is born to be great but the world refuses him. Nick takes us on an emotional journey in words and music and asks "when all is lost, what do we truly have?". Recommended for adults and children over 12. • Friday 21st October, 2011 at 7.30pm - Katrice Horsley Performs The Devil, the Maiden and the Crow Katrice has been called the 'soul-diva' of storytelling. Here she explores themes of death, duty and desire in a rich theatrical and poetic performance based on a traditional Hungarian folk tale. Let her draw you in and you might come away changed. Recommended for adults and over 12′s only. • Friday 2nd December, 2011 at 7.30pm - Emer O'Connor Performs Bloody Bulls A young man is born, greatness is foretold but what follows is a bloody mess. This is the epic Ulster Cycle dragged kicking and screaming into a fresh new telling. Brutality, sensuality, outrageous humour and bleak endings. Come and listen if you dare!. Recommended for adults and children over 14. • Friday 20th January, 2012 at 7.30pm - Sarah Rundle Performs Gawain and the Green Knight Gorgeous Gawain rides out. His mission is suicidal, his journey long and cold, he is constantly ambushed; but the greatest danger comes from his own heart. Sarah’s vibrant retelling of this classic tale from King Arthur’s Court has taken the storytelling world by storm. Recommended for adults and children over 11. • Friday 24th February, 2012 at 7.30pm - Kat Quatermass Performs Once Upon a Bawdy Night Kat plunders medieval, renaissance and folk material to create an evening of unashamed laughter at lechery. Delivered in a lively style, with dry wit, you’ll find plots and comeuppances, intrigues and downfalls all follow when we follow our baser urges! Recommended for adults and older teenagers.   • Friday 23rd March, 2012 at 7.30pm - Ben Haggarty Performs The Blacksmith at the Bridge of Bones This is a dark and full-blooded story of power, knowledge and alchemy from a teller world renowned for his dynamic and infectious performances. Evocative, unflinching and beautiful by turn, it will lure you into the rich and magical world of a fairytale for grown-ups.
