Description   Flookburgh Band Christmas Carol Concerts Your Guide 2 Events in Grange-over-Sands   The annual Christmas Carol Concert in Grange-over-Sands, features the popular Flookburgh Band and the programme will include a selection of classic and popular Christmas favourites. This year they are reverting to the Cumbria Grand by popular request. Tickets are priced at £8 (TBC) which includes refreshments and are available from band members or by calling 015395 59081. The concert begins at 7:30pm. On Christmas Day Flookburgh Band will once again be performing 'Carols on the Square' in Flookburgh between 11:30am - 12:00noon. Your invitation to join the band in celebrating Christmas with carol sheets provided. There'll be a collection and at the 2010 event, £300 was raised for Help For Heroes. The award-winning ensemble were founded in 1909 by local fishermen under the name of Flookburgh Village Hall Brass Band before becoming Flookburgh Silver Band in 1937. There are strong family ties within the band. One of the bandsmen is a direct descendant of a founder member and there are family groups amongst the current musicians. In 2009 Flookburgh Band won its way through to the finals of the National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain.
