Description
Grizedale Forest Art Roots Sculpture Exhibition
Your Guide 2 Events in the Lake District
The Art Roots exhibition at Grizedale Forest Visitor Centre features work by 10 artists who have been commissioned by the Forestry Commission to create new site-specific sculpture in the forest landscape. The exhibition features work by internationally renowned and emerging artists including Jill Cole,
Jo Lathwood,
Laura Ford, Tania Kovats,
Charlotte McGowan-Griffin,
Jessica Lloyd-Jones, Andrew Ranville, Andrew Sabin and Keith Wilson.
All consider the landscape, our relationship to it and interaction with it as fundamental components of their research and making. For three and a half decades Grizedale Forest has been closely associated with the practice of making sculpture and art in the forest environment. The exhibition installed across the Visitor Centre introduces the ten artists who represent a diverse range of sculptural practice. All consider the landscape, our relationship to it and interaction with it as fundamental components of their research and making.
The Art Roots
exhibition showcases a diverse selection of work in different media including sculpture, installation, photography,
drawing,
traditional 16mm film and HD video. The artwork introduces the practice of each of the artists and the exhibition combines new and existing works. The existing works relate to the artists' interests in landscape, often connected directly with the forest. The new works have been created as part of the artists’ current research and development at Grizedale Forest.
