High Borrans Windermere Lodges
are
Nordic-style luxury timber lodges which are
situated high in the Lake District fells on a working hill farm. These two cosy log cabins are both superbly appointed and provide the perfect self-catering get-away for couples seeking peace and quiet amidst some stunning Lake District scenery.
The tiny settlement of
High Borrans is located
well off the beaten track in the fells between Troutbeck and Kentmere, very close to Windermere. The cosy timber lodges provide the perfect holiday accommodation for romantic breaks away from it all or as a base for fell walkers. Although in a quiet, rural location, High Borrans Lodges are conveniently situated, being a short drive from the main access road into the Lake District (A591). Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are only a few minutes drive away and the M6 just 20 minutes away.

Dog Friendly Accommodation
Dogs are welcome at High Borrans Lodges, subject to certain conditions - being a working farm!
For full details, see the Booking Conditions.
High Borrans Farm
High Borrans Windermere Lodges are located high in the Lake District on High Borrans Farm. The 1000 acre working hill farm has a flock of 1200 Swaledale ewes and about 25 beef suckler cows. The land rises to around 1300 feet on heather-clad fell tops that were formerly used for grouse shooting.
These days the farm is a great environment for nature lovers. The farmland is an Entry/Higher Level Environmental Stewardship Scheme and parts are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Don't be surprised if out on the fells you glimpse red and roe deer, and closer to the farm, tawny and barn owls and many varieties of bats reside in the old barns. White-clawed crayfish -
Britain's only native crayfish -
thrive in Dubbs Reservoir, Dubbs Beck, Borrans Reservoir and the River Gowan.
