Description Kendal Christmas Lights Switch On 2011 Your Guide 2 Events in Kendal & the Lake District The Kendal Christmas Lights Switch-on is held on a Sunday this year and begins at 3.00pm with Father Christmas riding in his sleigh, drawn by reindeer, from the K Village to Kendal's Market Place. The Kendal Town Crier will be in attendance as will be the Salvation Army Band who'll be performing festive carols. There'll be a non-alcoholic gluwein stall run by Kendal Town Councillors and the Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Kendal. Kendal's town centre has for more than ten years been illuminated, from mid-November until early January, by a display of Christmas lights that brightens up the town that serves as the gateway to the Lake District.
