Description Lakeland Sinfonia 2011-12 Season Your Guide 2 Events in Kendal   Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Society present their 37th year of top quality music. Each year the society hosts a series of performances in lakes leisure Kendal's Westmorland Hall on the edge of the Lake District. Some are subscription concerts, although tickets are available with additional sought-after performances by the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic. There's also a Christmas charity concert and over the years, £110,000 has been raised for local good causes. Lakeland Sinfonia 2011-12 Programme   • 1st October 2011 - Lakeland Sinfonia - 7.30pm - the season opens with performances of Mozart's overture to Don Giovanni and Adagio for Violin & Orchestra and Beethoven's 2nd Piano Concerto and 2nd Symphony. Conducted by Wyn Davies with pianist Benjamin Frith and David Routledge on violin.   • 5th November 2011 - Manchester Camerata - 7.30pm - performing a Symphony Sinfonia No. 10 and a Violin Concerto by Mendelssohn, Rakastava Op. 14 by Sibelius and Schubert's String Quartet No. 14 arranged by Gustav Mahler. Venezuelan Giovanni Guzzo directs and plays violin. • 19th November 2011 - Family Concert 'Warming Songs for Winter Days' - 3.00pm - Featuring songs, dances, good fun and a little bit of theatre for all the family. There'll be vocal and instrumental pieces of great variety with traditional songs from Shetland and Canada and pieces by composers like Holst, Bach, Strauss, Vivaldi and George Harrison. Tickets - Adults: £5, Under 16s: £3 (must be accompanied by an adult) • 26th November 2011 - Northern Sinfonia - 7.30pm - Performing Mozart's Turkish Violin Concerto No. 5 and Bruckner's Symphony No. 2. Conducted by Mario Venzago with Bradley Creswick on violin.   • 17th December 2011 - 30th Christmas Charity Concert - 7.30pm - Lakeland Sinfonia with soprano Catrine Kirkman and conducted by Philip Sunderland are joined by the Kentside Singers for the annual charity concert. Tickets: £14   • 14th January 2012 - BBC Philharmonic - 7.30pm - A varied programme with the world premiere of Feet in the Clouds by Malagnini, Double Concerto for Clarinet & Viola by Bruch and Elgar's Symphony No. 1 - Tickets Grand Tier £23, Area: £18   • 11th February 2012 - Northern Sinfonia - 7.30pm - The orchestra's second performance of the season has a South American theme with Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras and The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Piazolla. There will also be Bach's Suite No. 2 and Last Round by Golijov. Juliette Bausor is on flute, Louisa Tuck is co-director and cellist, Kyra Humphreys is co-director and performing violin with solos by soprano Katherine Manley.   • 25th February 2012 - Hallé - 7.30pm - performing Mozart's overture The Magic Flute, Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and Dvorak's Symphony No. 7 and Notturno.
