laurel_hardy04.jpgThe world-famous Laurel & Hardy Museum in Ulverston is certainly well worth a visit. Stan Laurel was born in the historic market town in 1890 and in 1993, life-long fan Bill Cubin, the former mayor of Ulverston, opened his own tribute to the comedy duo. Described as a "hobby that got out of hand" the collection soon expanded and quickly became a "must see" attraction for all visitors to Ulverston and even Cumbria.

Now in new larger premises within the Roxy cinema complex, there is far more space to enjoy the marvellous Laurel and Hardy memorabilia and watch one of their classic films or a documentary.
If you can't get to the museum, why not visit their online store where there's a great range of collectables and gifts?

Laurel & Hardy Museum - Packed With Memorabilia

laurel_hardy05.jpgThe Laurel and Hardy museum in Ulverston attracts more than 20,000 visitors from all over the world each year. As well as Stan and Ollie’s life stories, the museum is packed with fascinating memorabilia and items from the comic duo's careers. These include the violin used on the boys' 1947 tour and Stan’s bowler hat.

There's also original furniture from the Argyll Street house in which Stan spent the first five years alongside his birth certificate. Plus letters, photographs and personal items.

The 15-seat cinema shows free films and documentaries all day
on the stage of the Roxy, which appropriately is a 1930s cinema.
