Mothering Sunday in the Lake District and Cumbria
Mothering Sunday / Mothers Day in the Lake District & Cumbria
This year Mothering Sunday falls on 18th March 2012. It's known as Mother's Day in most other countries where it is celebrated either on the second Sunday in May or as part of International Women’s Day in March. For over 400 years, Mothering Sunday in the UK has been held on the fourth Sunday in Lent and has been an important day for giving thanks to our mothers.
Flowers or a celebratory meal out are popular gifts for mothers and our Eating Out and Florists guides provide plenty of venues and florists. Despite an abundance of places to eat in the Lake District, booking is recommended if not essential, especially at lunchtimes! If you can't get to see your Mum - send her some flowers!
