The World Owl Centre at Muncaster Castle
The Muncaster Castle's World Owl Centre is home to the World Owl Trust, where you'll find a marvellous collection of these fabulous birds of prey. There's small and large, fierce and friendly, beautiful and strange owls, who really are the wonders of wildlife.
The centre has more than 40 different species of these magnificent creatures on display, in landscaped avaries from all over the world. These range from strange fish owls to diminutive pygmy owls, not much larger than a sparrow. The World Owl Centre at Muncaster Castle is open every day and entry is included in your Garden ticket.
A portion of the admission fee from every visitor goes to the World Owl Trust and so you're not only helping to maintain a majestic piece of history with the Castle and Gardens, you're helping to support the vital conservation work of the Trust.
At 2:30pm every afternoon from March until November, a talk is given on the amazing owls and other birds of prey at the World Owl Centre. It's a great opportunity to see the birds at close quarters and watch and photograph them in flight (weather permitting - further details here)
