Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway
2012
Events Brochure
A visit to the Lakes is not complete without experiencing
Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway!
It's Lakeland’s longest,
oldest,
and most scenic steam railway, which connects the Lake District's coast to its highest mountain. The seven mile journey
from the delightful coastal village of Ravenglass, passes through two glorious valleys as your steam train travels to the foot of the
Scafell range.
Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is a Quality Assured Visitor Attraction. Each of their locos travels around 6,000 miles per year hauling trains consisting of 'breath of fresh air' open carriages, practical open-sided
carriages
and cosy, covered saloons. They operate more trains on a longer line than any other
Lake District
heritage railway.
All of the
Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway
is in the Lake District National Park, beyond life's commercialism and hustle-bustle and surrounded by spectacular beauty!
Keep an out out for Red Squirrels, Herdwicks and Buzzards en route as you travel on
Lakeland’s
most scenic railway.
