staveley_stamp.jpgSt James took the place of St Margret's Church in 1865. (Only the tower remains of St Margret's). The church is in the Diocese of Carlisle and houses a stained glass east window designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones and made by William Morris and Co. A section of the window, featuring a six-winged angel playing a mandolin, was chosen as the Royal Mail 2nd Class Christmas stamp for 2009.
