The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere is a magical place where all 23 of Beatrix Potter's tales are brought to life. No visit to the Lake District is complete without visiting The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. You are able to meet all the characters including Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, the Flopsy Bunnies and, of course, Peter Rabbit.
The Attraction is in 2011 celebrating its 20th Anniversary as well as the 100th anniversary of the Beatrix Potter character Timmy Tiptoes. Since the multi-award winning tourist attraction opened in 1991, 2.5 million visitors of all ages and from all over the world have enjoyed it. The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is an inspiring place, where visitors can glimpse scenes from the familiar Lake District landscape, learn how nature inspired Beatrix and find out about the contribution she made to preserving the place which she made home for generations to come.

Inside The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
At the first stop inside The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere, visitors find themselves inside Jemima Puddle-Duck’s woodland glade. Continuing, they then meet Mr Tod in Tommy Brock’s house and emerge into the dappled shade of the Peter Rabbit Garden. This is a delightful place which features many of the heritage plants and flowers that Beatrix Potter depicted throughout her tales.
Moving back inside, visitors discover Mrs Tittlemouse whose busy spring cleaning. They then encounter Squirrel Nutkin in the midst of his adventures and the Fierce Bad Rabbit is as usual getting up to mischief! On rounding the next corner, visitors to the magical Attraction come across a familiar prickly washerwoman, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, who is busy in her kitchen.
Visitors then walk through a Lakeland Village, where they meet Miss Moppet, Johnny Town Mouse, the Two Bad Mice and Samuel Whiskers. Jeremy Fisher can be spied in his smelly pond and the Flopsy Bunnies observed busying themselves in their garden.
Exploring further inside The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, visitors are able to join Beatrix Potter in a virtual walk through her beloved Cumbrian countryside, journeying to the special places that inspired her work. Upon walking on, visitors warily enter Mr McGregor’s garden (pictured right) and greenhouse to discover what’s lurking under the plant pots and among the seed trays! Upon quietly moving on into a quiet corner, we spy Peter Rabbit’s cousin Benjamin.
In the Beatrix Potter Shop visitors will find one of the most comprehensive Beatrix Potter gift ranges anywhere in the UK including toys, books, gardening gifts and nursery ideas. Afterwards visitors can unwind in the award-winning Beatrix Potter Tearoom, where visitors can sample tempting treats made from fresh local ingredients and produce grown in the Attraction's own Peter Rabbit Kitchen Garden. Many of the ornamental and edible plants used in their Kitchen Garden have been specially selected to accurately reflect plants varieties of plants that were available in Beatrix Potter’s lifetime which she drew and featured throughout her twenty-three tales.
Events at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
There are lots of exciting events planned for 2012 at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction at Bowness-on-Windermere. These include the hugely popular Great Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt in which 110 hand crafted collectors ceramic eggs are hidden throughout the Lake District, ten of which have very special prizes linked to them! The Attraction is also hosting nine very special tea parties and in this Olympics year, there's an opportunity to be an Olympian in the Windermere Olympic Relay. This free, fun event is your opportunity to form your own family team to try to win Gold, Silver or Bronze.
