Grange-over-Sands Golf Club
Grange-over-Sands Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland course which was originally laid out by the famous golf course architect Alistair MacKenzie and it still retains many original features from his 1920s design. Grange Golf Course has recently been extended and plays every inch of its 6065 yards and benefits from the especially mild climate of Grange-over-Sands. It is a good test of golf for both high and low handicap golfers, with clever utilisation of tree plantations, ditches and water hazards which demand accurate driving. The five par 3s are particularly interesting and thought by some to be the best in Cumbria.
Grange-over-Sands Golf Club has recently improved the drainage, and lengthened three of its holes making it an interesting and even more challenging course than before. Although the course is flat, many visitors agree that it is still a challenging test of golf, with its trees, ditches, ponds and bunkers.
Many member competitions are held throughout the year, and the club is renowned for its friendliness. Grange Golf Club has a strong ladies section who meet every Thursday, and a very keen junior section.
