Sandylands Methodist Cornerstone Church - Kendal
The Sandylands Methodist Church in Kendal was built in 1937 and in recent years has benefited from a £400,000 revamp project. A major transformation of the building has taken place and the improvements are set to help local residents and organisations. The latter include the NSPCC which uses rooms for child therapy sessions, Sandgate School and Causeway, a group for adults with learning disabilities. New toilet facilities have also been added to cater for people with disabilities.
After 5 months of closure the church re-opened in December 2011 and is now known as Cornerstone. The church has also launched new services, such as a Dads Club, which encourages men to take their children along and socialise with other fathers.
