Windermere & Lake District Information Centre
The Windermere and Lake District Information Centre is visited by around 100,000 people a year. Since November 2014 the facility is operated by the Mountain Goat Bus Company, who took it over from the Lakes Hospitality Association. Mountain Goat have spent £150,000 refurbishing the centre on two floors and it was officially reopened on March 25th 2015. Downstairs is a café with indoor and outdoor seating serving teas, coffees, chocolate and soft drinks, plus sandwiches, paninis, biscuits and cakes.
The upper floor incorporates offices for the Mountain Goat staff as well as the information desk, retail area, along with information displays used by local businesses. The centre is a hub with visitor services including luggage storage, car hire, accommodation, Wi-Fi and the selling of tickets for events and attractions. Mountain Goat also operate tours from the site.
