brathay windermereThe ASICS Windermere Marathon is a 26.2 mile circuit of Windermere in UNESCO’s newest World Heritage site taking in Hawkshead, Newby Bridge and Bowness-on-Windermere along the way. Voted the ‘most scenic’ by readers of ‘Runner’s World’. Finish the breathtakingly beautiful and challenging course amidst a carnival atmosphere, in the grounds of Brathay Hall.

The marathon is a fundraising event in support of the Brathay Hall Trust, which is a charity that transforms the lives of children and young people by providing residential and community based programmes. In association with the marathon will be ‘Go Active at Brathay’ from 11am to 4pm.

Go Active at Brathay is all about promoting sports and fitness activities aimed at getting local people and visitors more active. Taster sessions will be available on the Brathay Hall site while the ASICS Windermere Marathon is taking place.

In a stunning setting visitors will be able to have a go at: entry level trail run; junior trail races; orienteering; open water swimming; climbing wall & high ropes activities; paddle boarding and archery. And, while cheering finishers in the Marathon and Brathay 10in10, enjoy the local food and drink on offer.

All proceeds from the events will go towards improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. Please follow signs and directions for car parking. Entrance to Go Active at Brathay is free but there is a £5 charge for parking. Or visitors and spectators may prefer to park in Ambleside and enjoy the 15 to 20 minutes walk to the Brathay Estate.
