Country Fest 2017 in Crooklands
Saturday 3rd June 2017 to Sunday 4th June 2017
Celebrate the beginning of British Summertime at Country Fest on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June 2017 – a fantastic family event, with delicious food and drink, countryside activities, children’s workshops, daring stunt displays, live music and plenty more for the whole family to get involved in. Held at the Westmorland County Showground, Crooklands, near Kendal
Country Fest will be buzzing with excitement this year, as Honda UK’s official Stunt Team Bolddog Lings are welcomed to the Demo Arena. Performing their freestyle show on both days of Country Fest, the UK’s top Riders also go head to head in a true test of nerve to see who will throw down the biggest tricks to win over the crowd. Take our word for it, this is a show not to be missed!
Expect all the usual favourites – the stunning Kite Festival, filling the skies with colourful creatures of all shapes and sizes, plus the Young Farmers Tug of War County Final. Come and cheer your favourites on as teams battle it out to see who is crowned the winner. If Tug of War isn’t your thing, enjoy some fabulous shopping in the craft, lifestyle and vintage marquees, and outdoor trade stands, including Joules and many more.
Be spoilt for choice in the Food Zone with tempting artisan chocolates, cheeses, craft beers and gins available to try and buy, amongst other delicious local produce. Local professional chefs will be sharing their culinary secrets in the Country Fest Food Theatre sponsored by McClures – a great way to pick up some tasty hints and tips. Or why not take the kids to meet the farm animals in the Discover Farming Marquee and Pets Corner. Watch a cow being milked, meet goats, rabbits and chicks, and see the Rare Breed Sheep Show in the Young Shepherd’s Event.
New areas at Country Fest include a children’s cookery workshop (for any mini-chefs in the making!), plus competitive handicraft competitions and a WI Marquee. Get involved with the competitions, which include Bake a Cake; open to bakers of all ages, the companion dog show with children’s classes, terrier racing with prizes for the fastest, and the 10k Trail Run and 1k Mini Trail for under 15’s, not to mention the Rabbit Show, Sheepdog Trials, and sausage making workshop! There are plenty of free activities for the kids, including crafty workshops, circus skills, kite flying and have-a-go areas too.
If Vintage is your thing, make sure you delve into the treasures of the Vintage Revival Marquee and find a bargain, or cool off with a refreshing homemade lemonade and cake in the Vintage Tearoom. With historic cars, motorcycles and military vehicles too, Country Fest has something for all ages.
With plenty of space for the kids to play, bring a picnic rug, grab a craft beer and relax with some live music and dance - it’s safe to say that Country Fest is the family event not to miss this summer!
