The 44th Cumbria Steam Gathering will feature more than 1,200 classic exhibits, displays, traditional fair plus specialist caterers and crafts. Between 30 - 40,000 visitors attend the annual Steam Gathering which is organised by The Cumbria Steam & Vintage Vehicle Society. They have been bringing together vintage and steam vehicles from across the world for one massive summer event, held just outside Grange-over-Sands, for four decades.

This colourful and noisy event is held over two days and provides a whole host of family entertainment and vintage transport favourites such as agricultural and industrial tractors, classic cars, majestic steam engines, bicycles, commercial vehicles, fire appliances, military vehicles, farm equipment and motorcycles. Adults at the Cumbria Steam Gathering will be able to browse the thousands of vintage vehicles, steam traction engines, bicycles and wagons and children will enjoy demonstrations, magic shows, miniature remote controlled car racing and a traditional fairground.

Two of the late Barry Sheene's world championship winning Suzuki RG500 motorcycles will be on display at the Steam Gathering. It is 14 years since Barry died but he is still remembered with fondness by motor cycle racing fans. Special attractions include the Broke FMX extreme Moto Cross display team alongside regular favourites the Sheep Show, the Pantonic All Stars Orchestra, the Morecambe Bay Archers and the all action North West Lawn Mower Racing Association.

The temporary sandpit, a popular innovation with the younger visitors last year, will return in 2017 along with Mr Alexanders Travelling Show. For the more adventurous, the Clip & Climb climbing wall is sure to prove a hit and if you ever wanted to be close to a bird of prey, a visit to Joe's Owls and mobile zoo will be a must. There will be continuous demonstrations of traditional craft displays, ploughing and cultivating demos, a chainsaw carving display and woodworking demonstrations (weather permitting).
