Grasmere Gallop Trail Races 2016
Saturday 4th June 2016 - This event has finished
The Grasmere Gallop takes place in the stunning setting of the Vale of Grasmere and Rydal. There are five events organised by the National Trust's Grasmere Rangers: a 17km Trail Race, 10km Trail Race, 10km Nordic Walk, 5.7km Family Fun Run, plus a Teddy Dash for the youngsters. There are many magnificent views of the Lake District's inspirational landscape as you make your way around the trail.
The race route covers a mixture of terrain with the first section climbing steadily along the Red Bank Road leaving Grasmere behind and then onto the spectacular Loughrigg Terrace. There's an occasionally rocky path across Loughrigg Fell as you pass the famous Rydal Caves along the way. You then return via the shore lines of both Rydal and Grasmere. There will be an optional 'water dash' for those willing, before returning to Grasmere village via the Red Bank Road for a 'grandstand' finish on the Grasmere Sports Field. Proceeds from the four events will support red squirrel conservation work.
