Kendal Festival of Food 2016
Saturday 12th March 2016 to Sunday 13th March 2016 - This event has finished
The 7th Kendal Festival of Food is a food and drink extravaganza that showcases the very best in Lake District produce and exceptional dining experiences that can be found in and around Kendal. The Festival of Food includes demonstrations from some of Lakeland's best Chefs plus Celebrity Chefs. The festival is free to attend, with many events taking place across Kendal town centre. At the heart of the weekend's celebration of tasty local produce is the Great North Country Market, when many producers will be showcasing their wares from local beers to freshly-baked bread.
Along with festival favourites - such as the beer festival, talks, tastings and street entertainment - the new events for 2016 include Northern Spririt. In this regional distillers and industry experts will be offering masterclasses on Standing Stones Vodka, Bedrock Gin and The Lakes Vodka and Gin, as well as Kendal's own Mint Cake Liqueur.
Also to be launched at the Festival of Food this year is an edible garden, with hints and tips for budding gardeners. The 'Grow Your Own' area in Wainwright's Yard will even have its own potting shed! Plus the Bring-a-Bake competition, hosted by cookery firm AGA, which invites bakers to don their aprons and bake biscuits, fruit cake, a loaf of hand-made bread or make a chocolate creation. Four ewes from the Go Herdwick Calvert Trust, along with twelve lambs, will also be attending.
