Kendal Yarns Festival will be a vibrant festival of new plays and artwork from Kendal Community Theatre on the streets of Kendal - an artistic celebration of the culture, people and industries of the town. The festival will transform many of the town's historic yards, with exciting artwork created by community groups and schools working alongside professional artists, with inspiration from the rich heritage of 'The Auld Grey Town'. Contemporary visual art installations will reinterpret and celebrate some of the trades and professions linked to Kendal’s yards. A total of 58 new 15-minute plays penned by writers of all ages will be performed.

Live performances will include contemporary dance and historical re-enactment. The festival will end on Saturday July 30th 2016 with a ticketed gala performance in the Town Hall at 2:30pm and 7:30pm in which each one of the short plays will be performed again, along with performances on the streets of Kendal during the morning - Book online. A festival programme is now available from Kendal Information Points, plus during the Festival from the organisers' own Information Point at Kendal Town Hall.
