The Joshua Tree, Licensed Cafe & Bistro in Kendal at the Gateway to the Lake District, is housed in one of Kendal's oldest buildings that's tucked away down one of the many "Yards". (Just behind Henry Roberts' Bookshop) It is very popular with both locals and visitors and caters for all tastes. The ancient building dates from the 1620s and many original features are still evident today.
The old oak beams, the wooden floors, real log fire and the sunny courtyard all add to the warm and friendly atmosphere. Upstairs is light and open with tables & chairs as well as couches in which to enjoy a relaxing Italian coffee. Downstairs is warm and cosy with the log fire and exposed oak beams, whilst there are more tables and chairs in the delightful cobbled courtyard which catches the sun most of the day!
All the food served at the Joshua Tree is home cooked and locally sourced, with special requirements catered for. There is a daily specials board in addition to the regular menu which can be seen here.
Unlike many cafes in Kendal, The Joshua Tree does not close straight after lunch! Afternnon Tea - a Pot of Tea or Regular Coffee with a choice of garnished sandwich and a home made fruit scone with jam and fresh cream all for £5.50!
The famous Joshua Tree Breakfast - described by many customers as "the best breakfast they've ever had" is served until 11.30am, it will keep you going all day! The Bistro is open on Saturday evenings once a month for "theme nights" and once a month for their popular Starter and Pudding Club (Booking is advisable!)
The Joshua Tree can be booked privately for birthdays, anniversaries Christenings, Baby Showers, Funeral Teas etc. (minimum number of 10). The whole cafe/bistro is available for private parties for a simple supper to a formal dinner party.
