Caravanning in the Lake District & CumbriaCaravanning in the Lake District & Cumbria
The Lake District is the ideal caravanning destination with beautiful scenery and a number of designated caravan sites. Cumbria Tourism describe the Lakes as having "many fantastic sites offering impeccable
facilities, world-class settings and excellent green credentials". In 2010 the Caravan Club reported that Westmorland and Lonsdale had come second in its poll of the country’s top 10 caravanning holiday spots. Drawn up using Parliamentary boundaries, the Caravan Club reported that south Lakes had beaten off strong competition from the Cotswolds and the golden beaches of Cornwall. There are four Caravan Club sites in the Lake District area with a total of 618 pitches: Meathop Fell near Grange-over-Sands (pictured right), LA11 6RB - Tel: 01539 532912 - Open all year Park Coppice, Coniston, LA21 8LA Tel: 01539 441555 (9am - 6pm daily) - Open August 1st, 2010 to November 8th, 2010 Low Park Wood, Sedgwick, Kendal, Cumbria, LA8 0JZ - Tel: 01539 560186 - Open March 19th, 2010 to November 8th, 2010 Braithwaite Fold, Glebe Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, LA23 3HB - Tel: 01539 442177- Open March 19th, 2010 to November 8th, 2010 |
