Carpets & Flooring in the Lake District and Cumbria
Carpet manufacturing and the Lake District have a long historical connection, dating back to when Kendal was the centre of the wool trade and the geographical centre of Westmorland. The Herdwick Sheep which are seen across Lake District, are well suited to the often harsh environment in the hills, the hard wearing wool they produce has been used for many products including the production of carpets. This led to Goodacre Carpets being established in Kendal in 1863. Today there are still many quality carpet retailers across the Lake District and Cumbria.
